Melbourne Raccoon Removal
Most cases of raccoons in the attic in the Central Florida area occur when a mother raccoon is looking for a safe place to give birth and nurse her young. Raccoons can easily break into roof return areas through the soffit, or even tear holes in the roof to enter.
When a mother raccoon has decided to make your attic her home, simply setting a trap can be ineffective. Even if you do catch the mother, it’s likely that her young are still in your attic. This means that they need to be removed by hand.
This can be difficult, and often times costly to the homeowner, as the young are usually inaccessible because they are located in a dropdown part of the ceiling. This means cutting open walls in your home!
We have found that using a synthetic male raccoon hormone that can only be purchased by qualified professionals is effective in most cases.
Male raccoons will kill young raccoons, and the scent we apply will make the female uncomfortable. The hormone will make the mother want to leave, with the babies, on her own.
After we are sure that the mother and her babies are gone, we can seal up the building to prevent re-entry. In most cases, we are able to use a PVC coated aluminum flashing to seal off the area. This is the same metal that is used for the facia trim around your home.
When possible we will match it to your home’s color. We also secure the surrounding soffit area, as well as any other entry points, to prevent the animal from re-entering your home.
