In Brevard county we get a wide range of pest animals in the attic, I have personally found that you come across certain animals in the attic in different cities. Rats, bats, squirrels and raccoons are most common in Melbourne, Viera, Rockledge and Palm Bay.
We find that Cocoa Beach, Cape, Canaveral, Melbourne Beach, satellite Beach and Merritt Island tend to have mostly rat problems. This is probably due to their close proximity to the Indian river and Atlantic ocean.
Are you hearing noises in the attic in the middle of the night middle of the day or even in the early morning? Well you’ve come to the right place, lots of things can cause noises up in the attic, whether it’s the house settling or things vibrating like air conditioning ducts and of course there can be animals living up in the attic. Typically their sounds are unmistakable like scratching, chewing, squeaking and jumping.
Rat noises in the attic usually consist of scurrying, scratching and squeaking. The rodent activity is mainly in the nighttime hours because these animals are nocturnal.
Bat noises in the attic are pretty easy to identify because they are so loud on the exterior of the home with their unmistakable squeaking noises and strong-smelling guano. Bats tend to leave the property as the sun goes down and return when the sun comes up so you will have a brief time with no noise during the nighttime hours.
Squirrel noises in the attic are also pretty easy to identify because they are active during the day so you might catch the varmint going in and out of the attic through the entry point. Squirrel noises in the attic are typically chewing, scratching and scurrying.
Raccoon noises in the attic are different from the other animal’s noises because they can sound louder. You will typically hear a lot of rustling around which is most likely the noise of a female raccoon building her nest. It’s also not uncommon to hear the sounds of baby raccoons crying.
